If you love Belgian chocolate you can't miss the Cocoa and Chocolate museum

This unique museum, just steps away from the Grand Place of Brussels, will take you around the chocolate world from its origins to the final product.

Learn about the history of chocolate: from Xocoatl, a spicy drink that the Mayas were very fond of, until hot chocolate drinks perfumed the French courts. The first blocks were made in the 19th century and were followed shortly after by the world-famous delicious Belgian pralines.

Watch how cocoa is grown and transformed into chocolate by way of posters, videos, photos and a series of explanatory panels.

Major attraction during the visit

Observe a demo by a master chocolate maker who will be revealing the secrets of traditional chocolate making.

But chocolate is not only for eating, so don't skip the chocolate-pots and antique cups, sculptures and even clothes made of chocolate!

All along the visit you'll be served samples of different types of chocolate, which you can then purchase at the museum shop.

The museum is closed on 25 December and 1 January
