In the 9th century the hunters chose St-Hubert to be their Patron Saint. Not only is he called upon for a successful hunt but also for the protection of dogs and horses. A great historic procession has been taking place for over 40 years on the first Sunday afternoon of September, evoking the history of the saint: his conversion, the foundation of the abbey, the pilgrimage... On Saturday, there are concerts and a mass in the Basilica. Highlight on Sunday is the High Mass in the presence of Belgian hunting parties, and foreign and Belgian horn blowers. The mass ends with the blessing of the animals and the distribution of bread. In the beginning of the afternoon there will be a great historical cortège (with floats, figures in old costumes), then a concert.
