6900 MARCHE-EN-FAMENNE
Created in 1967, this giant multicoloured market in the centre of the town is a vivid display of more than 2000 different birds along with more than 100 artisans in action. But birds are not the only asset of this market. There is a splendid choice of traditional dishes that can be sampled: matoufè, potées, fricassèes, etc...The market's most typical attraction is the stinging show of the "mautchis": an amateur puppet show full of satire and humour, depicting the different aspects of everyday life of the people of Marche-en-Famenne. The merriment of the festival is also assured by the orchestras, street artists, traditional costumes of the 1900s, ancient games and a huge flea market... everything in traditional costumes.
From 10 am to 7 pm in the pedestrian area: birds, antique, old professions, craftsmanship, popular games, traditional music, regional gastronomy. Fireworks.
